This inn could not be fully enjoyed without honoring of the first female to practice law in Geneseo. This guestroom has a queen bed and shares our adjacent showpiece washroom. Mabel's parents renovated Geneseo's first public schoolhouse in 1914, transforming it into this historic home she cherished for nearly 100 years. Her strong-willed mother, daughter of longstanding Henry County Clerk Frank Graves Welton, fired Frank Lloyd Wright over a disagreement involving a lack of closet space. Mabel's father was a prominent international lawyer, and her mother ran one of the first female-owned businesses in Geneseo. She traveled extensively with her father, allowing her to meet well known figures such as President William Howard Taft. Mabel had a passion for historic preservation, philanthropy, patriotism and... the color pink.
