This cozy, hand painted 13 x 13 guestroom is named in honor of one of the first teachers working in our original Central School, Hannah Amelia Lyon. It hosts a queen bed and shares our adjacent showpiece washroom. The Art Deco furniture came from the Geneseo House hotel located at the corner of State and Second in downtown Geneseo. Hannah A. Lyon (nee Dillingham) came to Geneseo from New York with her family before the Central School opened in 1856. She lived here for several decades before venturing on to fulfill a need for teachers in the Dakota Territory. On the walls of this room you can see the plastered outline of one of the four original chimneys used to warm the children until 1890. Mr. Harry Brown used this room as an office and you can see the marks from his rolling desk chair near the foot of the bed.
